A kitten was left alone in a stairwell during a rainy day, unsure and frightened, but everything changed the moment he found warmth, safety, and the company of other cats. His name is Jardani — and his story shows how a little love and patience can completely transform a life.

It was a rainy day when Alyssa, a kind volunteer at Puppy Kitty NY City, received a message about a young kitten who desperately needed help. A neighbor had found him abandoned in a building stairwell with just a small cup of water and a bit of food. When the neighbor asked around, someone admitted they didn’t want the cat anymore and were moving away. Without hesitation, Alyssa decided to help.

When Alyssa arrived at the location, the kitten was nowhere to be found. “I thought someone took him, or maybe he ran outside,” she said. The building’s stairway had two open exits leading straight out into the storm. Refusing to give up, Alyssa searched carefully and called softly for the kitten, hoping he would respond.

Then she noticed a small movement above her — the kitten was hiding right on top of a pressure gauge near the ceiling. Alyssa, always prepared, pulled out some treats. The smell caught the kitten’s attention, and curiosity finally overcame fear. Slowly, he peeked out, giving Alyssa the chance to climb up and gently scoop him to safety.

Once inside Alyssa’s foster home, Jardani’s entire demeanor changed. The fear in his eyes faded, replaced with pure relief and joy. Within hours, his tiny purr engine roared to life. He kneaded his blanket, rolled over for chin scratches, and finally drifted off to sleep with a full belly and a safe heart.

In no time, Jardani turned into a playful ball of energy. He pounced on toys like a tiny boxer and then cuddled up in Alyssa’s lap for comfort. “When he wants love,” she said, “he looks for my lap or calls out with his squeaky meow. He’s just pure love.” Jardani quickly became the sweetheart of the house — curious, funny, and endlessly affectionate.

When Jardani met the other foster cats in Alyssa’s home, his happiness reached a whole new level. He followed them everywhere, eager to be their friend. No matter how fast he zoomed around during playtime, he always showed a gentle and loving side when it came to his feline companions.

One of his new friends, DJ Mittens, is a wobbly but cheerful cat. Jardani became very protective of him, often wrapping a paw around Mittens and grooming his face affectionately. Another friend, Monchichi, joined the fun, and together the trio became inseparable — playing, running, and even grooming each other after every wrestling match.

As days went by, Monchichi and Mittens became more confident and playful, inspired by Jardani’s energy. The three cats now share endless adventures, chasing toys, exploring corners, and curling up together for naps. “Not only is he adorable,” Alyssa said, “but he has the funniest meows and the sweetest heart.”

Today, Jardani is thriving — full of confidence, joy, and love. He’s always ready for playtime or cuddles, never far from his feline friends or foster mom. Alyssa hadn’t planned to take in another cat, but she’s thankful she did. Thanks to her kindness, Jardani now knows what it feels like to be truly loved and part of a family.
