The kitten, named Onion, was surrendered by a local owner because she was the only baby in the litter and had difficulty nursing. Despite her frail condition, she was given a second chance when three veterinary technicians stepped in to help her survive.

Although she was underweight, Onion showed a strong will to live. Her caregiver set alarms every two hours at night to make sure she was fed on time and never left hungry. With each feeding, her tiny body grew stronger.

Her second bottle feeder named her Onion, and that’s when her steady progress began. With syringe feedings at first and then bottles as she grew, Onion quickly learned to gulp down her meals like a champ. After every feeding, she curled into warm blankets, safe and loved.

Her caregivers worked as a team, taking turns to ensure this fragile kitten survived. “It takes a village to save lives,” one said, as they celebrated each ounce of weight gained and every little milestone reached.

Onion adored cuddling and would melt into the arms of her caregivers. A few gentle belly rubs left her paws waving happily in the air. Soon, her playful side blossomed, and she wanted to explore beyond her nest, trying to climb and see the bigger world around her.

At four weeks old, Onion developed a hearty appetite, drinking bottles with gusto and even wearing a cute “milk-stache” after meals. She also found comfort in an unlikely friend—Puck, a gentle foster dog who let her climb, play, and snuggle freely.
