A tiny kitten was abandoned at a veterinary clinic after her owner no longer wanted her. Her future looked uncertain, but a kind-hearted veterinarian stepped in and refused to give up on her. The vet reached out to Chatons Orphelins Montreal, where volunteers immediately took her in. “We named her Tam. She was only three months old, weighing just 900 grams, and her jaw was broken and locked shut. She couldn’t even feed herself,” the rescue shared.
One volunteer began syringe-feeding her around the clock, making sure she had the nutrition she needed to survive. This little fighter showed incredible determination from the very start.

Since Tam couldn’t chew or open her mouth, she was placed on a slurry diet. Despite her pain, her will to live was extraordinary. She even tried to push her tiny face into the food, attempting to eat on her own. “She wanted to live and did everything she could to get food into her little body,” volunteers said.
A medical scan later revealed the full extent of her injury. Her jaw had healed incorrectly and was stuck in place, preventing her from eating normally.

With the help of a specialist, Tam underwent delicate corrective surgery to unlock her jaw. “The surgery was a success. As soon as she woke up, she could finally move her mouth again,” rescuers shared with relief. When she was discharged, Tam tasted her very first pate meal all by herself and devoured every bite.

Her appetite only grew stronger. Even with her face still swollen, she licked the bowl clean, savoring every bit of food she had been waiting for. During her recovery, Tam found comfort in a gentle senior cat at the foster home. She often curled up beside her feline friend, purring softly until she fell asleep, surrounded by love and safety.

Thanks to the care of the vet, volunteers, and the surgeon, Tam’s life completely turned around. Her jaw may still be slightly misaligned, but it’s fully functional. She now eats every meal with joy, making up for all the times she couldn’t. “She’s a little fighter who never gave up,” her caregivers said proudly.

Now full of energy, Tam has become a whirlwind in her foster home. She is playful, fearless, and affectionate. She adores people, always looking for snuggles and attention. Her purr engine roars to life the moment she’s touched, and she even leans in for little nose kisses. She is mischievous, curious, and loves chasing after anything that moves.

Today, Tam is a sleek “house panther,” always following her humans around the house. At night, she snuggles into bed and fills the room with her soothing purrs. Her love of food hasn’t faded either—she is known to sneak a bite from her humans’ plates when no one is watching!
