They welcomed a lonely shelter kitten into their home, but when two more tiny arrivals came the very next day, they knew they couldn’t turn away. What started with one fragile life in need quickly became a heartwarming story of three inseparable kittens finding comfort, health, and joy together.

Jen Marder, a volunteer with Kitty of Angels, received an urgent call about a newborn calico kitten named Bungee. Barely two days old and newly arrived at the municipal shelter, she desperately needed a foster home. Jen immediately stepped up, knowing that Bungee would require around-the-clock care. Though she showered the fragile kitten with love, she realized Bungee longed for the company of other kittens her age.

Jen’s wait didn’t last long. Just a day later, two energetic tabby sisters named Slinky and Pogo arrived at the same shelter. They were full of life, healthy, and ready to thrive. Jen didn’t hesitate to welcome them into her home, knowing how much joy and companionship they could bring Bungee.

Before they could meet, the kittens stayed in separate incubators until given medical clearance. During this time, Bungee fell critically ill. Newborn kittens are fragile, and Jen feared the worst. The little calico couldn’t eat on her own, so Jen tube-fed her, administered medication, and watched over her tirelessly. “She scared me so much, but she was always a fighter,” Jen recalled. Relief finally came when Bungee was able to drink from a bottle again.

Meanwhile, Slinky and Pogo thrived in their incubator. Slinky became the plump purring sweetheart, while Pogo showed off her loud voice at every opportunity. After two weeks, they were strong, playful, and ready to meet their calico sister. When the day came, the tabbies joined Bungee — who was initially cautious — but within an hour, all three were curled up together as if they had always been family.

The trio soon became inseparable. They played, cuddled, and explored their foster space as though they had known each other forever. Jen described Slinky as gentle and calm, Pogo as the chatty spokesperson, and Bungee as her little shadow. Their favorite spot? A quirky “bread bed,” where they always snuggled together despite having an entire playpen at their disposal.

With more space to grow, their personalities blossomed. Soon, they will graduate to a larger room once they master litter box training. For now, they spend their days tumbling, wrestling, and snuggling together. Most importantly, Bungee — once a frail and lonely newborn — is now thriving alongside her best friends.
