They took in a “10-day-old” shelter kitten in desperate need of help. But as it turned out, the tiny feline was much older than anyone expected. Her rescue story began when a kind-hearted foster volunteer decided to give her a fighting chance at life.

Earlier last month, Jamie, a dedicated foster volunteer with Baby Kitten Rescue, received a message from West Valley Shelter about a long-haired black kitten in urgent need of rescue. The kitten had been listed as a “10-day-old male” and required immediate help since the shelter was running out of resources. When Jamie saw a short video of the kitten crying helplessly, she instantly decided to save the little one and arranged transport to bring the kitten home.
When the kitten finally arrived, Jamie discovered something surprising — the tiny cat was actually a girl, not a boy, and she wasn’t 10 days old at all. The discovery changed the course of her care journey.

“I noticed she had all her teeth, which means she was actually closer to five weeks old,” Jamie recalled. However, the kitten’s malnourished body was so frail that she was barely the size of a newborn. She was dehydrated, extremely weak, and fighting to survive. Jamie immediately gave her fluids and fed her tiny amounts with care, ensuring she got the nutrition she needed to recover.

After gaining a little strength, the kitten began to show her spirit. She stood up shakily on her tiny legs and meowed loudly as if to announce her presence. Jamie named her “Wednesday,” inspired by the confident and fearless character from the show *Wednesday*. From that moment, the tiny cat began to fight with all her heart.
Jamie continued feeding Wednesday every three hours, day and night. “Most 5-week-old kittens eat every 5–6 hours, but because she was so underdeveloped, her stomach capacity was only that of a one-week-old kitten,” Jamie explained. The process was exhausting but rewarding, as Wednesday slowly began to gain strength.

Ten days of sleepless nights and nonstop care paid off when Wednesday started to thrive. Her weight increased, her fur grew fluffier, and her curious eyes followed Jamie everywhere. She would toddle to the edge of her cozy nest and meow for attention, proving she was finally out of danger. “Wednesday is very vocal,” Jamie said. “She talks constantly and makes sure I know when she’s hungry.”

As the days went on, her playful personality began to bloom. Near the end of her second week in foster care, Wednesday took her very first bite of solid food on her own. With newfound energy and curiosity, she graduated from her incubator to a small playpen. “I knew then that we were finally out of the woods,” Jamie said with relief.

Jamie described Wednesday as “bossy, vocal, confident, and full of life.” But unlike her TV namesake, she’s also incredibly affectionate and cuddly. “She’s a perfect kitten and has brought me so much joy to foster,” Jamie shared warmly.

Wednesday developed her own little vocabulary — groans, squeaks, and meows for every feeling. She loves to perform her “crab walk,” puffing herself up and pretending to challenge Jamie to play. Despite her tiny frame, she’s full of energy and courage. “She’s tiny but mighty,” Jamie laughed. “Like a miniature house panther strutting around the room.”

By the time Wednesday was around eleven weeks old, she was ready for adoption. A loving family living just a few blocks away immediately fell in love with her adorable charm. “She’s going to a wonderful six-person family that already has three dogs and a cat. She will never be short on love or attention,” Jamie shared proudly.

Wednesday now enjoys her days surrounded by people and pets who adore her. Her new parents work from home, so she’s constantly showered with affection. Though she’s still small in size, her personality fills every corner of the house — bold, loving, and endlessly playful.

From a fragile, malnourished kitten to a confident little “house panther,” Wednesday’s journey is proof that love and care can work miracles. She found her forever home and continues to bring happiness to everyone she meets.
